Biographical information:

Born 1891.

Adam Czerwin (grandson of Nathan) reports that according to his father there were eleven children, only two (including Nathan) surving the Holocaust. Nathan immigrated to the U.S. One of our sources was the Israeli Naftali Szmelc who recorded many relatives at Yad Vashem in 1957.

Note. At Yad Vashem, the transcription from the Hebrew gives "Bincha" rather than "Hinda" but in fact "Hinda" is written. They look quite similar. Name confirmed by Adam Czerwin.

We use the Polish spelling "Szmelc" for Hinda. In Yad Vashem records it is transcribed as Shmeltz. In Polish records the name would have been written as the Yiddish version would typically be transcribed as Schmeltz (with many possible variants, such as Shmelts).
